have you noticed what kind of games are released for consoles?
Fighting (Street Fighter, Marvel v. Capcom, DOA2)
Action (Dino Crisis, Resident Evil)
Sports (NFL2K1, NBA2K1)
Console RPGS (Shenmue, Final Fantasy 9, Grandia)
What PCS have:
Action (Hitman Codename 47, No One Lives forever, Mechwarrior 4)
Sports (Madden, NBA Live, NHL live, Sammy Sosa)
RPGS (Diablo 2, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate 2)
FPS (Quake 3, UT, CS, Elite Force)
ok..they are starting to have these, but I'd like to see a PC quake 3 player vs. a DC quake 3 player and see who wins (I bet on the PC player...if you haven't played Q3A on the DC, try imagining moving your character with the buttons, your line of sight by the stick and shooting with the triggers).
Real Time Strategy (Age of Empires 2, Starcraft, Homeworld, The Sims)
try playing Starcraft 64 and see the difference
Turn Based Strategy (X-Com, Heroes of Might and Magic)
Adventure (Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Longest Journey)
As you can see, while consoles are fun, the games are incredibly limited. Only once in a blue moon do innovative games appear FIRST on a console (this blue moon it's Shenmue), but the rest are simply rehashes of the same thing. As for the PC, innovative games appear almost weekly. Try to find equivalents to Hitman, Giants, Black and White, Sacrifice, and many others and you'll see the best gaming platform is the PC.
However, it's all about the games. There shouldn't be a competition, but I just hope everyone doesn't bolt away from the PCs to consoles.
