Yes, try and reset your electrical settings before defragging, defragging is a very processor consuming aspect and the heat controllor(sync i believe it is called) on your processor might shut down due to so much heat buildup, it is an automatic saftey mesaure in some processors I believe. The time taking to get to 84% is probably the amount of time it takes to get to that degree of temperature. So de-overclock your computer, and if you didn't overclock your computer, well..
