You will need that 24 hour service that they offer if you get one. HP is junk, it will only frustrate your parents.
If you have the know-how to build yourself a rig, go with that route. Make sure its stable first and then hand it over. I would say if there are any issues with a home-built, they ususally come to the surface right away. No 24 hr service required!
