I've noticed that it seems to really increase the rendering speed when spitting out an AVI or MPEG file. It also helps during editing when previewing portions of video and rendering effects. This is through Adobe Premiere which I know takes advantage of multiple-CPUs.
Results appear to be the same for Cubase, which I use for composing. I use a lot of virtual instruments (VSTs) that are CPU hungry.
