They disable bluetooth because they want to sell you music, ringtones, etc rather than you uploading your music from you ipod to it. There's a reason why Apple original attempt at an iPod in a phone (with Motorola ROKR) failed. It's because the service providers want you to buy another copy of the song from them. In effect, they want to control your content. It has nothing to do with marketing.
