Ooh! Sorry man, bad assumption on my part. You're a generation ahead of the Northwood.
The good news is that there are a lot of cheaper, more recent procs available for LGA 775 than socket 478. Depending on your MB, you might even be able to move up to a dual core pretty cheaply.
You need to find a better description of your MB - there were tons of different Asus boards that started with P5. If you can find a better model number,
search here and it'll list the compatible processors.
