Not arguing with any of those benefits but the article isn't written with that perspective. It's saying buy a small home because it's the trendy thing to do.
I'm all for living within your means and finding the right arrangement for your situation. A married couple without kids probably doesn't need a 4000 sq ft house but a married couple with 2 kids would find a 1600 sq ft home awfully tight.
