So I rented a Penske moving truck last week and while driving it I clipped the mirror of some other guys parked van. My truck was fine, but the other guy's mirror was broken. Fortunately I had signed up for insurance that would cover others' damage. I left a note with my number saying I'm sorry and that he should call me. Later he calls me up and starts whining that the repair cost is only $75 and that it's not worth it because if I fix that with my insurance it'll eventually raise his insurance costs much more. I'm assuming he wants a cash settlement so he doesn't have to deal with the insurance companies.
Question:
If the accident was 100% MY fault and MY insurance will completely cover the other guy's repair costs, will it still be considered an accident for him and thus affect his insurance rates in the long run?
