I'm in mixed emotions. I'm about 30% through the second disk and I'm not too impressed with this game so far. It just didn't grab me like seven did. I like the battle system a little better, but I miss the cool limit breaks. I've only seen one summon, but so far, I'm not as impressed as I was with the summon spells in FF7. They just seemed flashier, even though they were painfully long at times.

I'm looking at the end of this strategy guide and it seems as if they half assed remade the first final fantasy (from nintendo) Don't get me wrong: I loved the original. But I think if you are going to remake it, you ought to do it justice by sticking closer to the original storyline.
Anyone have some thoughts on this one?

Also, are the sidequests as enjoyable as they were in FF7? (Fighting the Emerald and Ruby Weapons, Battle Arena, chocobo racing to get Knights of the Round)

Can someone tell me if I'm going to be disappointed with FFIX? (so as to cushion the blow)
