You take your ticket and stick it in a machine. They calculate the time you'd probably stand in line. Say it's 40 min. So the machine poops out a ticket saying to come back between 40 and an hour and 40 minutes. You can only get one of these passes per ticket, so you can only get one from Splash mountain. When that one expires, then you can get one from Space mountain. So you can walk around the park, go on other, less in-demand rides while you're waiting for the Fastpass to be ready to be redeemed. When it's time, you go through a seperate entrance than the normal line. Usually, this entrance is within 5 minutes of the boarding point. It really works, and you probably spend a quarter to a third of the time you used to spend in line. Unforunately, it's only on 4-5 rides right now, but they should institute it on all the long-wait rides. I think they're testing it. To Disney: it works. W/ love, Pennypinch.
