So....what did everyone do on this Memorial Weekend?

This was my first weekend off in four years, which felt really good to get away from work (both jobs even) and relax. I fished almost the entire weekend and caught 32 sheepheads, 10 walleye, and tons of panfish. Can't complain with the sun and water...little stormy during the night but nothing major.

Downfall was, as everyone had today off I had to ride on the fire truck for one of the cities parades...I'm not a parade person, at all. It was money, but we had a fire afterwards which took a long time to put out, especially in the extensive heat.

i did the obligatory cook outs, went to a baseball game, and to a friend's camp. best part of the whole weekend for me was Saturday night sitting around a campfire with a bunch of cool people and singing along to song upon song with a talented guy plucking away at his guitar. the guy is a lead singer for a local band and well.... i like the sound of their band so much that i'm an official groupie. :D

Well my husband ,daughter and son-in-law went to the river so I stayed home to babysit my 2yo granddaughter. I dont like for them to take her on idiot weekends (which Memorial is the worst.) So I did laundry and packed to get ready for our trip (leaving Wed 4am) to Colorado to see new grandson.

Had some fun memorializing. Watched the Da Vinci Code with my friend, then stopped by the range for some shooting and some barbecue.

Did the family BBQ thing, did the friend Summer Kick Off BBQ blowout, took the kids to a petting zoo. Went fishing with my cousin. Got a ridiculous amount of yardwork done (finally caught up for the spring/summer).

And spent the entire afternoon yesterday at the pool with the kids...got the boy just about doing a perfect dive, and the girl knocking 'em down off the diving board. :hihi:

My mother's refridgerator broke on Saturday, so I went up with my cooler and a supply of fresh milk, cold cuts, cottage cheese, juices and ICE for her to make it through till tuesday..then Mr. Melon stopped by and asked if I would go to the cemetery with him and help him plant flowers on his parents grave.
Sunday I did nothing but clean the yard. Monday I slept for most of the day..because I had a bad bad migraine.

I think its a huge pain the rear when the fridge goes out. Mine did a couple months ago after grocery shopping, talk about a pain.

:stupid: The automatic defrost on our freezer doesn't seem to work. About once a year I have to empty the freezer, remove the back panel, and melt the ice off the coils. The fridge is too old to spend $150 to get someone out to fix it, but I don't want to lay out the $$$ for a new one right now, either.

All baseball all weekend.

My son was in a tourney Sat and Sun, caught some San Diego Surf Dawgs spring training (mmmm... Terry Kennedy, mmmm...), two exhibition games (Surf Dawgs again), watched my son and a friend play Slugfest 2002 (on um... game cube?).

Beer, food and outdoor fun was had on each of the three days (all with a mix of groups).

Over all, it was one of the best Memorial Day weekends for me, ever.

Probably one of the highlights was watching the Surf Dawgs play against the Military All Stars on Monday.

G/f came back from NY on Friday. Went out for her bday on Saturday (I was the driver,) We had a housewarming party and my sister's bday on Sunday. We went to the cards game on Monday with a bunch of friends for my g/f's REAL bday.) BTW...it was my first game at the new Busch...kinda nice, though the prices are jacked up. We got to see Pujols smite the astros in the 7th, so it was a good day.

We also went to the rib america fest. RIPOFF! For those that haven't been to these types of things, the vendors only take tickets. You have to buy 7 tickets for $10. But no food or drink comes in denominations of 7 tickets, so the racket is you have to buy $30-50 work of tickets to be able to effectively use them evenly. I was so pissed, I refused to eat or drink until I got to the ballpark, where getting screwed over seemed more acceptable. Oh, and yet again, I was the driver.

when rib america was here in pittsburgh, they took cash. all food was in $5 denominations, drinks were kinda pricey, but the rib-cookers didn't sell them.
