i ping gotapex at only 12ms average. I don't recall pinging any server at such low times. Its only 6 hops away which helps. Even my ISP pings higher.

at 12ms, what the hell are you complaining about? If you're going across the internet, that's a great response time.

besides that, ping will only tell you so much going across the internet. Same as tracert.

I'd ping from work, but they've turned it off.

Okay I know I'm going to sound like a n00b, but how would I do this? I'm assuming I'd ping from a command prompt, but IDK G|A?'s ip addy.

Applications-> Utilities-> Newtork Utility. You've got a bunch of great little tools in there, including Traceroute.
