So far the only place that I've checked with regarding pre-ordering the PS3 is EB Games. They stated that they wouldn't have a set per store allocation until October and that would be when they began a pre-order.
I'm not sure what the venue is, but apparently Sony will be announcing the allocations in mid October.

And they are trying to save face after their horrible preorder fiasco with the 360's.

:agree:
I wouldn't preorder anything at a game store ever from now on after the problems with the 360. Best Buy has preorders on a fair amount of stuff now, as does Walmart. (They might only do it on games though; I don't know.) I'd try either of those two...or even CompUSA, Circuit City, ToysRUs etc. Basically anything except a game store. :)
I'll probably wait at Walmart the night of the Wii launch just like I did with the Gamecube. I got there around 5:30pm and was #3...24 hr Walmart started selling the systems at midnight and I was indoors the whole time. :thumb:

Best buy didn't do a pre-order for 360 so I doubt they would do a pre-order for PS3.
What happened at these game stores with 360 pre-orders? Everyone that I know that pre-ordered a 360 got one(granted that is only 3 people).

Yeah, I mentioned that I didn't know if they did hardware preorders or not.
The game stores with 360 orders basically took tons of preorders and lowballed the amount of consoles they'd receive compared to the # of preorders they took, so there's probably still people out there who preordered a 360 a year ago that still never got one from Gamestop yet.

Yup, they ASSUMED they would get say 30 or 50 per store. So they ended up taking preorders up to about 150 or so for "2nd and 3rd" shipments. When MS came around and told them they were only getting 12-15 per store if that, the stores screwed all the people they promised they would get them on launch. The people they promised ended up paying in full months in advanced only to wait 3-6months for the preorder to come through.
Now EBGames and Gamestop pointed the fingers at MS saying they told them way in advanced how much they were getting and fel through. The problem with that is the stores took preorders right after E3 2005. All the game stores thought they would get more consoles since they are "Game Stores" but the problem with that is MS sells more consoles and games through Walmart and Bestbuy by far.

I found a website that is tracking the preorder status of the Playstation 3 at various stores. It should contain what you're looking for.

Looks like Wii is expected in November in the US, December elsewhere. http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multimedia/display/20060914023927.html
Sony is still trying to get a US release by the end of the year but is having supply problems, mostly with the Blu Ray players which they say will be on 80% of the ones in the initial release.

November 19th for Wii release. Might keep an eye out here: http://www.wii-preorder.com/
Best Buy has preorders on games but not on consoles yet.

One can preorder at Liksang (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=314&products_id=6998&)but since it's overseas it's probably going to cost a bit more. I might hedge my bets and order one from each.

Nov. 19th is the date now. I swore I was done buying consoles, but if Wii has a cool Zelda game where you actually "swing" the swords...well...

I guess this explains why they didn't send out pre-order emails...

I'll take it off your hands ;). It has the HDMI port now. I could of sworn I was on EBGames pre order list.
Quick edit: I talked to a guy who said the store only had 4 pre order slots and that Wii preorders were likely next week if they do pre orders on them at all.
