Are they phasing out that camera? Cause I am seeing a lot of deals on the camera and it's making me think that the retailers are trying to get rid of them.

no, i think nikon is just offering incentives on the cam to move it. They're in sort of a price war with canon over the rebelXT. The D50 is a great cam btw. i've seen places that are letting them go for around 380 refurbed, reports from users of the refurb models say they look and feel brand new. If your planning on getting one go for the 18-70dx best lens in the price range.

I am biased though, very satisfied owner of a d70 for over a year.

oh btw, the camera is less than a year old, nikon tends to replace their cameras every 2 1/2 to 3 years. the d2h or the d70 are the next up to get a replacement.

For lenses is the Nikkor brand good? Ritz is selling another brand of lens with the d50 for around $550. TO get the Nikkor lense I think it's $650.

the nikkor is always worth the money, although at 650 you're probably looking at the 18-55, which is a decent lens. There are better deals to be had, it just depends on what you want. I'll post up a deal when i find one... don't have the time right now to go searching.

nikkor, is nikon it's just what they call their lenses.
