The current Dell Dimension 8200 (their flagship laptop) deal is that of giving you free upgrades. The 8200 is no lightweight in that it is 7.64 lbs and 1.7 inches thick. However, this unit was not meant to be a superthin notebook. It is the big, full-sized, fully featured laptop with all the trimmings. I actually prefer those because I don`t like carrying external devices. What makes this a good deal is that Dell is offering these upgrades with it:

Free upgrade to 15 inch UXGA screen - This means 1600x1200 resolution, guys. That is amazing for just a 15 inch screen

Free upgrade to 40 GB Ultra-ATA hard drive - This is a very decently large hard drive for a notebook PC

Free upgrade to 8X CDRW-DVD Combination Drive - These things usually cost a fortune. Also, with this drive, there is no need for any externals

As you can see, this is a hefty notebook with everything you will ever need. Here`s how to get it.

Head over to DELLHOME

Just go down the list and make sure you have these:

FREE UXGA Display Upgrade! Mobile Pentium® 4 1.6 GHz-M, 15.0 UXGA

128MB,DDR,266M,1DIMM

FREE 40GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive Upgrade! (from 30GB)

FREE 8XCD-RW/DVD Combo Upgrade (from DVD) Roxio`s Easy CD Creator®

32MB DDR 4X AGP NVIDIA® GeForce2 Go™ 3D Video

1 Year Limited Warranty plus 1 Year Mail-In Service

Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition

Microsoft®Works Suite 2002 w/ Money 2002 for DVD Drives

Norton Antivirus® 2002, 90-day introductory offer

Internal 56K Modem

Integrated Network Card

Basically, just make sure you are getting everything you want and not getting any extras you don`t.

You might want to consider added the Floppy Drive if you are still using those. I personally haven`t used one in months.

When you check out, your price should be $1,579.00 before S/H. There shouldn`t be tax for most states. If your total is more than that, then Dell might have snuck in an extra accessorie, so go back and double check everything.
