Whoa, baby! The Inspiron 8200 is the flagship of the Dell laptops. Just think, Starship Enterprise. It`s not the thinnest or the lightest, but it`s packed with power and all the features. This is for people (like myself) who want to have EVERYTHING on their laptop. I personally can`t stand ulta-compact laptops because I can`t stand external peripherals. Check out these features:

Mobile Pentium® 4 Processor 1.7 GHz-M

15.0 Dell® UltraSharp™ Screen (VERY Nice)

512MB DDR 266MHz RAM (2 DIMMs)

24X CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive with Roxio`s Easy CD Creator®

32MB DDR nVidia® GeForce4™ 440 Go AGP 4X Graphics (best mobile video chip for gaming)

40GB Ultra ATA 5400 RPM Performance Hard Drive (fast!)

Integrated Network Card

Internal 56K Modem

No Module Floppy (strangely, there`s no option for this. If you need it, then give them a call and they *might* just send it to you at no cost. I`m not
guaranteeing that you`ll get it for free, but some people have called in and got it send to them at no cost).

At $1,799 after rebate, and thanks to an instant $200 discount (taken right off
the top, expires 8/23/02 now!) you will be getting one of the most feature-rich laptops around. The Dell UltraSharp screen lives up to its name. I`ve seen it and it`s soooooo nice! You get a whopping 512MB of DDR RAM, the 32MB NVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go video card, a very fast 5,400RPM hard drive, and a CD-RW/DVD combo drive!

First, go to DELLSB

Somewhere in the middle, it should say, "Save $250 Instantly! Affordable Notebooks!" Click on that.

Choose the Inspiron 8200 SE and Customize It

Just choose the cheapest options for everything. When I went through it, everything was already done and I didn`t have to change a thing.

Add it to your cart and check out.

Choose ground shipping, it should be free.

Send in the $400 Rebate (expires 8/31/02). REBATE

Now, you will probably have to pay for sales tax unless you live in a very lucky state. This is the best deal I`ve seen for such a loaded system.

Update: We`ve been getting some emails
from people who called Dell, some saying that the rebates are good, others
saying the rebates are not. The reason for this apparent controversy is
the small print at the bottom of the rebate stating "Can NOT be combined
with any other promotion on the BSD website going on between x date and y
date." The issue is there have ALWAYS been promotions, whether the
promotions were $ off, or free shipping (yes, the free shipping they
practically always have is listed as a promotion). In the past, these
rebates were always honored with these, which makes complete sense. Why
would a $300 rebate be voided by free shipping? Why would it be voided
by a $ off discount that you can`t remove? The SE bundle rebates could
NOT, however, be combined with other Inspiron mail in rebates(which also makes
sense). Anyhow, we`ve contacted our Dell liaison and he will get back to
us with a definitive answer from someone with the authority to say.

Update2: Valid!* We spoke with
Philip (x57674), who checked with his manager, Heather Jones, who according to
Philip, has the authority to definitively say whether the rebate is valid or
not says as long as the system base code numbers match up, AND THEY DO, the
rebate is valid.* w00t!
