Don`t worry you`re not the only one that`s heard of this brand. However a little more close inspection and it appears they just rebadged the <a href="http://www.tvauthority.com/Plasma_TV_LCD_TVs_HDTV/product.asp?dept=15&prod=318" target="_blank"><b>Samsung TXL2791F</b></a></br> I personally own this tv (the samsung) and I paid over $500 about a year ago. The quality is just as good as the Sony Wegas, and to me personally has less geometric distortion than the sonys. So I believe the Akai should be just as good. Heck even the remote looks EXACTLY the same as mine. Anyhow $299.56 is an excellent price for this set. Just to compare the cheapest at dealtime for the Samsung set is $499.99
