Hola Folks
I had a few questions:
1. Does a Cable Descrambler work for all locations?
2. How do I go about installing this thing
3. Where do I find one? (I saw a couple on e-bay, but I have NO clue on how go about this thing.)
I found that the one's on e-bay are generally about 100 dollars. I do NOT know if these are even the right ones.

I pay (huge amounts) for cable from At&T (TCI) so I thought I would try a box since then it wouldn't be illegal.
First, they do not work on DIGITAL (the thing with channels over about 120).
Second, they hook up pretty easily, just route your cable line from the wall to the box to the tv and make any setup adjustments if necessary.
It seems that many places are selling the "universal" boxes and they really are just the same 2 or 3 boxes. You are probably already getting spammed about the same boxes you see on ebay.
Sometimes you need to fiddle with the box a bit.
Also, I am not sure if it does pay-per-view (I know they are not addressable so you can't just order a show and have it appear)

I picked up the ClearMax 3000 for around $100 on ebay. I really didn't expect it to work, but it did! It won't work on CineMax which is filtered here in Austin, but works on all Pay Per View and HBO, Showtime, etc. Too bad we don't get playboy down here. I don't use it much though, since I the video quality of the PPV or HBO movies is much lower than what I'm used to with DVD so...
but I'm keeping it for the PPV boxing and wrestling events.

One of my uncle owns a cafe shop, and he knows some sleezy people so thats where we get our cable descramblers from nowadays... I don't know how long those things will last since Digital Cable is starting to take over as TheLoneGunman said.

is it true that you need to be a subscriber to cable in order for the descrambler to work? is there any other way? I live in some old beaten apartment and the cable company says that cable tv/modem is not availible for my place. The only way I can get tv here is through some crappy RCA tv-top antenna i bought for 20 bucks at Target.

Cheapo sorry man you must have at least basic cable. If your cable company is saying you can't get cable in your apartment then it probably doesn't even have the wiring to hook the cable descrambler up to it.
