A bit more expensive than yesterday`s deal, but you do get more. You
get a 2.8Ghz P4 like the Dell Small Business configuration from yesterday, along
with a DVD-Rom plus a CD-RW for your 2nd media bay. However, you get a
free upgrade to 512MB of dual channel DDR SDRAM instead of 256mb, you get a 40GB
7200RPM drive instead of the 5400RPM drive, and you get a 56k PCI modem too, a
$20 value. They`re also throwing in Turbo Tax Basic 2003 for free.
There`s the 17" LCD monitor that`s worth $420 that comes with this configuration. There`s 10/100 networking, Windows XP Home, and a 1 year in-home warranty (if required, they`ll actually go to your house to fix anything!) The cost is $599, but you do have
to pay for shipping ($99). On the flip side, there`s no rebate to send in,
and Dell Home doesn`t charge tax to many states. If they do charge tax to
your state, since this config has an instant $150 discount instead of a rebate,
you are still saving money. There`s a second choice too. If you
want, you can go for one based on a 2.8Ghz Hyperthreaded P4 with an 800mhz
system bus, plus 400Mhz DDR SDRAM instead of 333. It`s just $20 more, and
I think it`s well worth it.</p>
