hey guys... what do you think? should I get the Nikon 990, Nikon 880, Sony DSC F505, or Sony DSC S70?

I have tried to read all the reviews on the net, and everything and still don't know what to do. The 990 is great, but the price is really high. For about $200 less, I can get the 880, but should I go with the Sony instead?

What about Olympus? The Olympus 3030 or C2500L are excellent cameras - with a little searching, you can get them at about the same range as the Nikon 990. If you're printing, the 3030 is your best bet. If you're shooting for web pages, the 2500 is an excellent camera.

Any preferences about what type of memory? Compact Flash, Smart Media, Memory Stick?

Make sure you check on ebay - I just bought a C2500L from a guy for $750 - retail price for the camera and all the accessories he gave me was over $1500. It's by far the fastest digital camera I've ever used - almost no lag time between shots. Plus, it has two memory card slots - one CompactFlash & one SmartMedia.

well... I want to get one soon, and the deal that i have isn't going to last very long.

let's put it this way, i can get one camera (just one, so don't ask) at a few hundred below cost. this means i can get the nikon 990 for about $600 or less and etc.

i'm not much of a fan of olympus. but i've heard rave reviews of the nikon 990. the 880 is supposed to be similar and cheaper. but the sony has the carl zeiss lense that really appeals to me.

i will be printing and publishing on the web. i use photoshop and will be getting a nice epson photo printer using photo paper.

has anyone had experience with these cameras?
