sorry, i know this is off topic but i know you folks know which drive is the best one to get. my old one died and i need to get a new one, please help

I love the TDK veloCD drive velocd.tdk.com
The current one is 12x/8x/32x/ and a fast music rip speed to boot.

I agree with Heihachi. My money would always go towards a Plextor. Check out their reviews anywhere on the net.
