If anyone knows how to overclock a pentium 2 400 mhz computer, please help me out. I love this computer and dont want to buy a faster one, although it can be a little faster.

I am interested too. I read about my Gigabyte motherboard and it mentions that many CPU's are "locked". Is there a way to unlock?
No there's no way to unlock the multiplier setting of PII 400's. You'll have to overclock by changing frontside bus speeds in your motherboards bios. Even then you may get 448Mhz (112Mhz x4.0) at most.

thanks, that is disappointing. I noticed in my searches that gigabyte has a windows utility for overclocking some of their motherboards called easy tune. Doesnt apply to my 440bx chipset, but might help others: http://www.digiweb.com/~overclock/press/gigabyte/easytune.htm

sbp's correct. It's not even worth it to over clock.

I'm using an overclocked P2-400. Changing the FSB from 100 to 118 gave me a 25% increase in speed-memory, devices, and the rest of the bus all sped up.
If I wasn't still using voodoo2's, I'd be running at 124Mhz-a stable speed for everything but the vd2's.
