I got my radeon. I used a $50 gift certificate from last x-mas to help buy it. The clerk at the counter said good choice when I was buying the radeon and said he was going to buy the 64 meg version. Now its time for a GeForce 2 vs. Radeon fight!

The Voodoo 5 is overpriced, underperforming and less future proof compared to the GeForce 2 and Radeon. Lets hope 3dfx forgets about releasing the Voodoo 5 6000 and concentrates on getting rampage out. Thats assuming 3dfx can hold on that long to launch rampage.

If you pricewatch.com it, this deal is good, but not outstanding - lots of places are selling the OEM version for less than $150.

Well, this deal sounds pretty outstanding to me. You mentioned it being $150.00 for only an OEM version. We are talking $149.99 retail! That's even cheaper than the OEM version, and you get the full package. With an OEM, something is missing which makes the OEM's not too good of a deal sometimes.

Usually the only thing missing from an OEM packaged graphics card are the demo games and the glitz and glamor. If it's OEM, it's usually just the card, the drivers, and an install guide. That's usually enough for some... it's enough for me!

(I do agree, though, less than an OEM box for a retail box is awesome).

Thats all you get in the Radeon retail package also. There's a cd with the drivers and a couple slips of paper. One paper is the warranty card and the other is how to install the Radeon.

Word on the street about the OEM is that it is a slower card, and also not as overclockable.

Only 64 meg retail Radeon's come clocked at 183Mhz. OEM Radeons and 32 meg Radeons come clocked at 166Mhz for core and memory.

I think I remember reading that the OEM radeon doesnt use DDR memory!

I know the radeon is a hot new card and everyone wants it, but i heard rumors that the radeon might be taking another price break from ati. Just random rumors around nothing established, but some said lagging sales and over production with the product might be forcing ati to take a price break.

I thought OEM's typically came with no warranty at all. Could be a bad thing...

Hey, and what's with all the popup ads all of a sudden, Apex???
