Corporations want fat profits and people want stuff for free; is there a middle ground?
I say give us low-res versions of media for free[kinda like AM/FM radio] and if the product is good enough[and some are] I'll go purchase the deluxe CD/DVD of it, or maybe just a sleeved version it's just ok.
That way i could stream, say FightClub off my site in, say, realvideo provided I linked to the DVD link at Buy.com. I, though, must have a legit version to stream off of, that could be confirmed in the stream.
The studio thus gets a ton of free publicity for their high-margin products while the surfers, us, get to maintain the 'free tv' nature of the web.
