I have a pretty old ('93) car that has automatic transmission. When the gear shifts up the car 'jerks' slightly. I'm told it's just because the transmission is getting old. Is there any economic way to fix this or am I doomed to be jerked around in my car for good? My friend tells me I can get new transmission but it's so expensive that it might not be worth it. Anybody know how much it'll cost? Would it be worth fixing if my car is only worth about $7000 now?

I'm not sure about this but how about changing a torque converter?

I have no idea what you mean, but do you think that'll help? I know a lot of people with old cars that have the same problem so I know it's not that rare of a problem. Torque Convertor huh? how much would that cost?

The price of torque converter varies according to the car you have. For Lexus, it costs like 900 bucks and more. However, I got mine on Ebay for $560. Installation takes about 3 hours. Perhaps you should take your car to the dealer and see what they say.
