If you are having a problem with an Internet transaction gone bad I would like to suggest you look at this site - all the info and mailing addresses are there making it very easy to file a complaint with both state and federal agency investigators as well as the state Attorney Generals who have the responsibility for prosecuting these individuals.

http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/crh/respref.htm
(use the navigation buttons in the left frame)

The LAST thing these Internet companies want is someone breathing down their neck with a possible Federal fraud charge. It's much easier for them to expedite your refund than it is to get their corporate lawyer involved in answering fraud charges from 3 or 4 state/federal agencies.

Make sure you snail mail a copy of your letter to the company/person you are having the problem with - 99.9% of the time they will act immediately to resolve the situation so they can close the matter and keep you satisfied.

PS: The information is also available in a free booklet that you can request from the same site.

I have posted 2 letters in this forum if you need an example to follow - one re: V-Store and the latest against e*Trade.

Hope this helps

I got this e mail from "IrishSS" off the "Deals" forum and thought I would answer it here with hopes it may help others.

"Got any information on Echo? I can't seem to find anything out about them... They havent sent me ANY GC's, adn I'm a little ticked off. Thry don't reply to my repeated emails either..."

Well echo.com sure does not give you much to go on at their WWW site - no address, phone, name, etc.

1. Open a new e mail account and send them an e mail with the SUBJECT " Fraud letter to Attorney General and Postal Inspectors " - I am sure someone will atleast look at it - maybe not answer. The problem is still trying to fully identify echo.com so you can address the problem to the proper agencies.

so here is what you do:

There is a listing of jobs available at echo.com and they ask you to e mail them a copy of your resume. This at least opens the door - now here is what I would do:

send an e mail ( using a 2nd new e-mail account ) to the address from their "jobs" page on their WWW site. Tell them you are interested in the "xxxxxx position" that was advertised on their WWW site. Tell them you do not want to e mail your resume to them because of the personal data that is included on it. Would they "please" e mail you a phone number to call and speak to someone about the job OR e mail me the company address so I can FedEx my resume directly to you. They may want you to FAX a copy of the resume - get the FAX number and then tell them " crap I just remembered my FAX machine is broken.

Hopefully one of these ploys will work - once you have identified the company then it's a breeze writing the letters to the proper officials to get some action to resolve the matter.

Hope this helps.
