Metallica, no bones about it. They have great crowd interaction, and always play the old classics even while promoting a new album.

Many bands will focus too heavily on new stuff to sell albums, fortunately metallica does not. Now, no need to get into the metallica backlash here

The best concert I have seen was Rush 'Roll the Bones' tour. While they aren't the most active on stage, the visual effects were awsome!

If you are looking for crowd participation, 38 Special. But that is only because the lead singer held my hand during 'Fantasy Girl'. :)

Metallica is great. Also, Static-X and Powerman 5000 put on some awesome shows. Dave Matthews isn't bad either.

crabbie IS a Hottie!

Toad the Wet Sprocket rocked for the best naturally amplified performance, but I caught Praga Khan at Burning Man and they rocked!

Metallica is good. I also Liked Rob Zombie's set when they toured with Korn. But when i saw weezer a couple months ago, I'd have to say them (maybe i'm a little biased since i think they're the best best around).

i'd have to say that my fav band live is live. i had so much fun at that concert.. wow.. it was one of the best i've been to. the lead singer really puts on a show and he's funny too. i also liked that concert cuz it was in a small place. i can't stand concerts in large arenas and/or stadiums, etc. because its just not as personal and "warm" as it is when youre right up in front and the band is so close.

WEll im probally gonna get lynched for bringing this in here but the best live preformance i ahve ver seen was the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with Charlie Daniels

its was an outdoor coecert and there was a huge beer garden and lots of hot women in hot tight cowgirl clothing

so there was the best of three worlds

that was awesome

<dontr get me wrong metallica kix so much ass but i ahve never sen them live so the NGDB and the CDB has to be the rbest live pconcert i have ever seen>

Hands down, Phish is the best live concert I have ever seen. There music is pretty good, but to see them live is a whole nother thing.

Also greatful dead is cool, but its the atmosphere as aposed to the music.

And no I am not a hippie or stoner, I actually listen to rap and grew up on NWA, EAZY-E, and Two Live crew.

I saw Phish a couple years ago and they were pretty good. I got a nice contact high too... go figure, who would have thought that there would have been mass amounts of people smoking pot at a Phish show? :hmm:

Ihave seen NGDB! They do put on a great show! Travis Tritt is another great country concert performer! Nothing like riding onto the stage on a Harley :)

But since I am commenting again. And the motorcycle reminded me... Meatloaf puts on one great show.

Yeesh, I knew Phish was going to come up.

If you're looking for shows, I really think hip hop bands have it down, and I used to promote shows.

The best? Jurrasic 5 gives you a hell of a show for the $$, as do the Roots, and the Outkast are extra tight. They give all those stupid rock bands five across the eyes :).

Greatest Live Band in the World imho. Without a doubt the best live show I have ever seen was The Clash at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium 1984! Yes I am dating myself, thank you (40 years old, still love da Music!). It was all punk songs that night, found myself in front of the stage screaming my head off to the lyrics.

I will also vote for Tom Waits shows of his last tour, very cool. Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Cramps, Public Enemy, The Minutemen and X are all bands that put on memorable shows. But a special vote has to go to my boys GWAR! What a hilarious show, great special effects, blood gore speed metal....the family values show!

Cheers

I saw greenday last month on the day their album came out, they did a free concert up here in seattle, it kicked ass. They burned all their instruments after the show in bigass bonfire.

Live was awesome when I saw them on tour with Counting Crows. They had such a stage presence and they all looked like they were having such a great time. I would see them again in an instant. I'd also have to say a close runner-up would be Tom Petty, now there's a guy who's been around for a while and knows how to play the crowd!

I wish I was old enough to have seen X lkive in their prime. They kick much ass. Good to see kudos going out to a relatively unknown band like the Minutemen! I'v got a few tapes and they are very enjoyable.

i've seen OZOMATLI a few times and they were great!
The last time wasn't as fabulous though, i really like ChaLi 2na, and he along with some other members of ozo were touring with Jurrasic 5.

oh well. i can't wait for new OZOMATLI. they rock.

Ozomatli is a lot of fun. So is Jurrasic 5. They blew me away the first time I saw them. I saw Wyclef Jean yesterday on campus. He's really talented, but I noticed that all the hip-hop heads took off after de la sol performed. I guess it's not cool for true hip-hop fans to be down with Wyclef. Whatever, I still like his music.

A Perfect Circle and TOOL (anything with maynard) always is up at the top of this list as well. Maynard is one of the best rock singers ever. He never ceases to amaze me.

Pantera's kinda funny, they will be like "we hate the fans...sing along or else we stop the song" which they do.

Yeah, pantera's pretty good too.
