i'm rather looking forward to 4 years of Republican rule. I would've preferred to put McCain in office though...

Who would want someone as dumb as Bush in the White House!?!

Bush isn't dumb. He's not a great speaker. To compete in the level of politics he and Gore are in, you have to be pretty sharp. It doesn't matter which figurehead we elect. neither have much of a margin and can not declare a mandate. It's going to be 4 years of not much getting done. The Congress having both houses under Republican rule is much more of a factor than anything else.

And that, I think, is a critical skill a president must have.
Let's face it: whomever the president is, that man will make almost zippo actual policy. The president's job is primarily to communicate to the American public the policies his advisors have come up with in such a way that they will support it. Such support eventually manifests itself in the two houses.
Now, if you have Porky Pig up there, stuttering away, do you really think he can convey the right message to the public? How can you trust a guy that doesn't even SOUND like he passed third grade english? Conversely, Gore is such a policy nerd that, while people are jumping out of their seats to cheer it, he usually bores them into submission. "Yeah, alright, he seems to know what he's talking about. He's talked for god knows how long about the same thing. Just give me another episode of 'Married with Children' and I'll support whatever the TV is telling to me to support."
Bush's well-known foreign policy gaffes are yet another topic of conversation, but dollars to doughnuts he'll be worse than his dad.

His father wasn't a great speaker either. But he got the job done. At least GWB desn't get caught lying to the public every other day.
Arrrghh..
If McCain had run instead of Bush there wouldn't even be an issue. He would have won hands down. He would have even gotten me to vote Republican.

Me too.
GWB's daddy at least had something to put on his transcript. Head of the CIA, war hero. GWB: uh, I traded Sammy Sosa, and was a fuck up for 20 years.
We just got through have 8 years of a slick speaker who couldn't tell the truth if his life depended on it.

Hmmm . . . I seem to remember GWB getting caught lying about the last time he was arrested. :)
I agree with you about McCain though - I probably would have voted for him over Gore if he had gotten the nomination.

The media sure made it look that way. Ever notice how they're just a little bit bias? What he said is that he wasn't going to talk about it.
"Hmmm . . . I seem to remember GWB getting caught lying about the last time he was arrested." Hmmm . . . actually Dubya said he made mistakes in the past. The press and liberals ran with this to speculate about a coke problem. And unlike senor Clinton Dubya didn't deny what happened and accepted responsibility for his ill-advised behaviour.

At one point Bush SPECIFICALLY said the last time he was arrested was BEFORE his DUI arrest. He did NOT mention the DUI arrest until it was exposed. Therefore, he lied about the last time he was arrested. Pretty serious if you ask me.

You're worried about him lying about DUI charges...but oddly think that Clinton's philandering is any of our business... Well, even if the President's private life is considered wholly private...HE STILL LIED! Those of you who don't like your politician because they "invaded Clinton's personal life" are just idiots. He was impeached because of his lies, not because of his horniness.
I also think it is odd that some of the less intelligent people out there think that Gore doesn't lie more than Bush. You don't think it is odd that Gore pretends to be an environmentalist and a nature-lover...when he goes out and shoots endangered ducks and protected species immediately after a convention on protecting all of the planet's creatures. He shouldn't be hunting at all after proclaiming his willingness to protect all of earth's creatures, and he should've publicly come forward and admitted that he shot the endangered animals, rather than waiting for newspapers to show the pictures to the world...and even afterward, i never heard about any admission from him. Besides...would someone please explain his stance on gun-control to me? It seems rather wishy-washy...

Very easy to make personal attacks and simply question the intelligence of those who disagree with you, isn't it?? Unfortunately for you, I am quite certain that you can't back up that statement. It seems that the crux of the argument of most of the conservatives on this board is to either attack the intelligence of the those who disagree with them, or claim that we are simply the pawns of the "liberal media." Both are extraordinarily weak and pathetic arguments.
On a different note . . . don't you think it is a little odd that the Bush campaign is trying to value time over accuracy?? Do you think there's a reason for that?? Hmmmmm . . .

i insulted your intelligence because your party leaders deserve it, and the blame gets dispersed among all party members. Did you not notice how I immediately backed up my argument by providing an example of Gore's lies? It is impossible to prove who lies more or less, but it is pssible to show who has been exposed in more lies...and I still point the finger at Gore. I don't know all of the facts, and neither do you, but from what I've heard (and most of my friends are democrats, so don't claim i live in a republican haven that defends bush or anything).
I also think that it's odd you say that the conservatives on this board can only attack the democrats by insulting their obvious stupidity and whatnot...but you don't think it is inappropriate to compare all republicans to white-supremacists? How does it make you feel to know that Tom Metzger, the ex-grand dragon of the KKK, who lives in San Diego, a traditionally Republican environment, voted on the democratic side of most issues, and guess what! He voted for Gore. But I'm not calling you all white-supremacists. I'm just calling it as I see it. You're not KKK members...you're just not going to be receiving invitations to join MENSA anywhere in the near future...

ProMinx, it's not wise to make assumptions about people - it puts you at a tremendous disadvantage when you under/overestimate, which is almost inevitable.
By the way, I did not say that they can ONLY attack intelligence - just that that has been the crux of the arguments.

You're not making any such comparison - because just as you did in the gun control fiasco thread, you are attributing the comments of others to me. I have not said once that Republicans are white supremacists or racists, nor have I ever implied it.

Hey, by the way, Butch, did you return our Black Panther/Democrat...uh, Halloween costumes...yeah...to the costume rental place yet?
Next year, I think we should go as REAL democrats, and dress like mob bosses!;)
Face it, ProMinx, that white supremacist thread was written by blithering idiots that, hopefully, supporters of neither party will lay claim to.

Now you're attributing things that I did not say to me. I did not say that you claimed that all Democrats were white supremacists. You did claim that all of the conservatives were only attacking intelligence and labeling you as "pawns of the 'liberal media'". That was the comparison I was making, so No, he doesn't have me there. The Democrats are claiming that the Conservatives are white supremacists, and I am making a statement about the majority of liberal posts that I have seen. There is a close correlation there...

No, you're entirely wrong on, well almost everything :)
Butch said he's never said Republicans are white supremacists. True.
Please don't generalize "Democrats" as two members of this board. I can think of two people that have said anything resembling what you're talking about. Not all Democrats on this board, hell, not even 3 Democrats on this board, claim Republicans are white supremacists. White supremacists could very well be Republicans, just like the Gotti's probably vote Democrat...

Just do some research on the illegal budhist temple campaign fund raising that Gore was involved with. There is proof enough for me that you can not trust the guy.
