Anyone knows why Nikon digital cameras (namely the CoolPix 950 and the other 'previous generation' camera they have rebates for) are so expensive? Compared to, say, the Canon S10, S20, S100? Or the Ricoh DRC7, which looks muchos neatos. :D
I've read reviews saying that Nikon lenses are good, but does that really justify their pricing vs cameras of similar specs...? Or am I just totally off base here?

It's a quality issue. I've used the S20 and honestly, it's not that great of a camera, even with its 3.3megapixel resolution. It's especially bad with people (little better with landscape).

Seems that most of the stuff are rather... subjective. Ah well, might as well throw in this question (plea?) for opinions: :)
What's a good digital camera that is (in no particular order) -
- For a novice user
- Not horribly expensive
- Not horribly styled (the Fuji FinePix stuff border on 'monstrosity'...)
- At least 2 Mega-pixels
- For taking both indoor pictures (in museums and such) and outdoor pictures (parks).
- Large storage capacity (I was seriously looking at the Casio QX2000somethingorother, the one with the microdrive).
I've found that I tend to... let's just say gravitate towards the cutesy looking cameras when browsing online. Figured that I should at least ask for opinions before taking the plunge on something that's cute but useless, like the hundreds of stuff I have sitting in a big box in storage. :D

I own the Kodak DC280 Zoom and love it! 2 Megapixels, CompactFlash, etc etc. The photoquality is the best in its class.
Watch tonight for a great Kodak deal. :)

I hope it's one for the 4800... :)
I've somewhat narrow my search down to the following few cameras:
- Canon S10
- Olympus 3000Z & 3030Z
- Kodak 4800
I know they're not quite the same class of cameras, especially the S10... but it supports the microdrive. I still need to convince myself that I can live with the price/capacity of CF/SM cards... :P
Posted. I'm guessing it'll be gone by, say, morning.

After getting escrewed by Staples on the Nikon950, I know I won't be holding my breath. However I did order it and hope it goes through. :P
It's a misprint.

I have used the following cameras:
Kodak DC240
Kodak DC280
Nikon Coolpix 800
Nikon Coolpix 950
Fuji FinePix 1400
Canon S10
Canon S100 Elph
Casio QV-2000UX
IMHO, it's the Casio that shines. You will not be disappointed!
