So I'm a help desk flunkie. I take calls all day. But the pay is good, and the majority of the people I work with are cool. Except for one. What a bitch. Today I came in about 2 hours late. And I called to let them know, had a problem at home. So, as luck would have it, the desk was busy this morning. What I'm supposed to do about that, I don't know. She apparently dropped about 5 or so calls. Well, I come in and hear hell about it. She's not a manager or anything remotely like that. So I start into things with her. You know, I'm a terrible employee, I don't ever come in on time, this and that. If being in at 8:05 is considered late, I think I'll quit. I just don't understand where she gets off telling me that I'm basically gonna go to hell because of my lateness. *sigh* Time to look for a new job.

Leave? because of some tired out hag who is a management wannabe? NOOOOOO ...don't give her the satisfaction, chances are she will hang herself in due time. Hang in there if the money is good and you even remotely like the job and 98% of the people there. Just tune her out and get on with your work. (here is a tiny hint-women like that HATE it when you agree with everything they say...just agree with EVERYTHING she has to say with a "yup, yup, your'e right,uhuh,yup,yup"..it will TOTALLY FLIP HER OUT..If you DONT argue with her she will go totally apeshit and go bother someone who WILL argue with her. TRUST me..Everyone in my dept did this to my asswipe of a boss a few years back and it drove her so crazy she eventually put in a for a transfer.

If she's just a co-worker, she has no call in dressing you down like that. You did call in. The personnel shortage is the supervisors problem, not hers. File harassment charges on her. She has no authority to make your life miserable. If you have a problem with a co-worker, it should be resolved in a quiet discussion not in a yelling match. When she took it beyond that she was in the wrong and totally out of line.

However, if she is a lead, Senior technician, or whatever they call it in your phone center, you pretty much have to take it. UNLESS she did it in front of your co-workers! That constitutes a hostile work environment and is harassment. File a grievance, speak to your manager, and talk to the Union, whatever you have. Make her life miserable. Your job talking to morons all day is tough enough. You shouldn't have to deal with difficult people in person. That is the supervisor’s job.

Good lord, 8:05 and you're considered late? (I'm assuming that work starts at 8:00 for you). Just chalk it up as PMS, that's what I'd do. :P

I spoke to the manager, and we worked things out. But what bothers me is the non-stop negativity. Oh well, I'm sure it will go away in time. As far as 8:05 bein late, I agree. In my last job, I had 15-30 min leeway to arrive. I just don't get this place. Oh well, no biggie, definately not the last job I'll ever have.

Blu, I work a call center too and we have a 6 min window for tardeness. Management has explained it to me and I understand where they are coming from. But I know what you mean.

Things happen and you will be late. That chick has no right to ride you. As long as you have it worked out with your supervisor, don't worry.

What call center do you work for?

Mine just got bought out by one of our clients. Not finished with all the details yet so not really official.

I work at an internal help desk for a company by the name of Telespectrum. The company's goal in life is to piss you off at dinner time. That's right, I support telemarketers. We did the political calling for on of the candidates, but which one, I don't know.

The company I work for is MicroAge Teleservices. Our parent company is in financial troubles so they are selling us off. And there where three bids on us. One from a private trio, one from a company in Atlanta and UPS. UPS is one of our clients. I know we won't be corporate UPS. But we aren't hearing anything and probably won't until the 28th when the deal is done.
