i recently aquired a second video card and have been trying to set up a dual monitor system. When i installed the second card, the first one (which is part of the motherboard) is no longer in device manager. Of course if i remove the second card, the first one works again. Any ideaas on how to fix this problem?

your mobo may be autosensing the graphics card - it disables the on-board graphics chip when anything is inserted in your VGA slot (be it AGP or PCI-X). It may be a "feature". Check your mobo manual if its something you can turn on and off in your BIOS (i doubt it though, but check anyway).

instead of using the on-board graphics chip, why not use a VGA card that has dual-monitor capability instead? Im using a dual monitor setup, one uses the 15pin D SUB out, and the other the DVI Out. If you have XP as your OS you can configure the second as an extension of the other instead of a clone.
