Very nice. I've never seen a colorful sand crab, or one that would stand still long enough for a pic. :) Then again, I've only been to La Jolla once - a coupla months ago - and saw nothing but the boring seals and the Ferrari dealership. :shrug: A good buddy of mine goes diving/spearfishing in that area several times/week. You've probably seen him.

The crab is moving in the picture. You can tell by the blurring of the front two legs (not the claws).

They don't get much more than an inch and a half across (at least the ones I have seen) so if you wanted to eat them, it would probaly be as a soup- just toss a few in with some broth, leeks, and cream.
