Apps using both CPUs on Dual Core

I have a Athlon X2 and I'm running complex stuff on MS Access. When I push the CPU I notice that it only uses 50% of the CPU. I'm guessing this is because it's only using one CPU and there's no code to make it use both CPUs when doing calculations. Is that correct?

Pretty much. But you can encode a video while you're working :)
