You just want something to convert an mp3 to a wav? (unless I'm missing something)

I use CDex (http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/), I prefer it to everything else out there. (IMO dB powerAMP is garbage now, but I used to love it) It will convert wav -> mp3 and vice versa (many other formats too).

Thanx...the ASPI drivers listed on their site..is it necessary to download them for Windows XP? I already have ASPI drivers for CDRWIN and I would hope that they don't interfere with them.

i think the drivers are only for windows98 or NT4 or winME. Ive used Cdex forever now, and with winXP it never needed any other ASPI drivers.

i used to use CDRWIN and when i used CDex with it, i never encountered any errors that ive noticed (win98 or winXP).

No, like Redcolours said, you don't need any extra ASPI drivers in XP; it'll use native drivers (or something) instead. When you first open the program the first time, it'll say something about "missing ASPI, use native instead?" and just say yes and you're good to go.

I love CDex because I use it and don't feel like it's adding DRM or other crap to the files it produces. I know iTunes puts restrictions in files that you rip (I don't remember what exactly, I just remember reading that it 'does' it), with Winamp now you have to pay to unlock mp3 encoding (ridiculous), and I generally dislike WMP. CDex is also great because it's resource friendly and very customizable (formats, file names, ID tagging, etc). :thumb:
