Nah... I'm not gonna totally "ghetto-fy" the 300 with Lambo doors. Those kinda look stupid on a 4 door sedan anyways (2 doors go up... 2 doors don't? :2far: )

What da hell are you talkin' about? White folks have had college fraternities on almost every "non HBCU campus" that are way older than my Fraternity... heck, Black folks weren't even ALLOWED to go to college until the late 1800s yet you make a statement like the one above? :2far:

C'mon now... get real. Did you even READ the links I gave you above? If not, then let me quote you a little snippet from the history page:

It was the vision of these astute men that enabled them in the school year 1910 - 11, more specifically the night of January 5, 1911, on the campus of Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana, to sow the seed of a fraternal tree whose fruit is available to, and now enjoyed by, college men everywhere, regardless of their color, religion or national origin. It is a fact of which KAPPA ALPHA PSI is justly proud that the Constitution has never contained any clause which either excluded or suggested the exclusion of a man from membership merely because of his color, creed, or national origin. The Constitution of KAPPA ALPHA PSI is predicated upon, and dedicated to, the principles of achievement through a truly democratic Fraternity.

Pretty much, your statements just show me that you have a very close minded view of Black people in general... even those who get together to do POSITIVE things in the community. Personally, I think you ought to step back and re-evaluate your way of thinking here (and yet you wonder why
Black folks always feel that the stuff some people say is "discriminatory" and "racist"... mostly because it is just that).

Now I'm gonna ask you again... if you want to continue this conversation, then please start a new thread or PM me. Please don't crap on my 300C thread with this non-sense. Thanks.

no i get it, I'm actually part of a nerdy accounting fraternity... I just get a kick out of riling up DF b/c he's pretty sensitive about race issues.

I was rolling my eyes at the idea of a black frat. Not that they have a frat, but that there's actually a national black fraternity. No big deal, I just find it amusing that there is such a thing... although it's not surprising. Me being white i'm always surprised at all the ethnically segregated clubs.

While I agree it can be amusing to crack ethnic jokes, your comment doesn't seem so much a joke as it is evidence of a critical misunderstanding. I believe the very essence of the "fraternity" is having the freedom to create an organized group with similar interests or principles. I don't see why a certain ethnicity can't be one these. As DF said, you could probably join if you really wanted to.

you sticking with the stock system so far or have you bumped that up yet?

Now you KNOW the answer to that question!!! Of course I upgraded the stereo too. :D

However, I did leave the stock head unit in the car... and I did this for several reasons:

1) I didn't want to lose all of my steering wheel controls

2) It's not that bad of a head unit... however it still isn't on the level of a good aftermarket unit.

3) Not having an aftermarket unit reduces the "theft value" of the radio. Most would be theives see the stock radio and just ignore the car (not knowing what is hidden underneath. :D ) Gotta love STEATH BOOM baby! :D

Basically what we have here is 2 Kenwood amps (sub amp is 1800w - 900w RMS and the mids/high amp is 900W - 450w RMS)

1 Kicker Solobaric L7 12" subwoofer
4 Kenwood 400W 6x9s
2 MB Quart 4" tweet/mids
1 Audio Control LC8 Line converter
1 5 Farad Capacitor

The voltage actually drops at the amp not the battery. The cap dumps current into the amp to stabilize the voltage at the amp. It has been a while since I did any car installs but I thought there was some type of "rule of thumb" to use when you decide how large of a cap you will need. I thought it was like 1 F per kw of power....I could be wrong but that would mean DF has a 5 kw stereo system. That is crazy.

It's the thing that makes time travel possible.

Really? Because at the angle at which I view the picture and the silver time travel cylinder it appears slighty to small for a full grown human. It could be just my perspective however I thought more accuratly is was for teleporting aliens, the smaller ones that reside on Jupiter. But I could be wrong, it could quite easily be for alien time travel and DF is making some extra money transporting aliens back and forth between different eras. Either way, it is nothing to do with a so called 'stereo'. Music that you can take with you in your car and listen to without a live band; rubbish and impossible; simply cant be done.

Freelance Superhero

oh, modena, i think you misunderstood.

it's what makes time travel possible; it's not what actually transports you. think of it as something akin to the Mr. Fusion energy source in Back to the Future. you put banana peels, coke cans, moldy spaghetti sauce, roadkill, and that sort of thing into it, and BAM. you're chillin with a brachiosaur.

I believe in "overkill". :D

The enclosure on the side is a custom made fiberglass enclosure. Very solid and air tight. Bass hits hard with no rattles from the box (however the trunk lid and trunk floor aren't so lucky.) I think I might need to get some Dynamat or Fatmat in the future to help reduce some of that.

You may be right... personally I'm not a "electrical engineer", however I know that with the capacitor I don't get the lights flickering like I used to without it." Pretty much as it was explained to me, the cap just stores energy and releases it quickly whenever there is a heavy draw by the stereo (such as on a big bass hit...)

I guess it helps both way... the car and the stereo. :D

whoa. that's seriously huge. i guess you're leaving yourself plenty of room for upgrade!

what's that on the left of the amps, by the way? looks like some sort of a switchbox to me - a factory radio interface, perhaps? is it an RF modulator or actually a hardwired aux input? or is it a preamp?

That is the AudioControl LC8.

Pretty much it is a high level output to low level input converter that allows you to keep your factory stereo and amplifier in place (thus not altering your steering wheel controls, internal factory navigation and voice controls if equipped.)

It also allows for "internal summing" of stereo channels so that I can take the separated (and possibly frequency adjusted) outputs from the factory amp and recombine them into a complete band signal for my amplifiers (then I can adjust the aftermarket amps or equalizers to reprocess the stereo signal to my preferences). It also allows for "signal sensing" turn on for the amplifiers, so I don't have to tap into the car's fuse box for a turn on lead.

Pretty nifty device in OEM integration with aftermarket components. If you wanna read some more about it, here is a link to the product page on the Audio Control website:

oh, ok. a high-level to a low-level preamp converter. it's a nice little unit and probably a very good idea given that the amps' converter rarely does a decent enough job at it. you would be best served with it, given how much power you're feeding to those two guys.

Heh.. Thank you (and everyone) for the compliments on my ride. Honestly I truly enjoy tricking out a car, as every car I have owned going back to my first '78 Chevy Monza has had varioius aftermarket upgrades done to it.

As far as cost relative to value of the car... My total upgrades are less than $4K... however the original M.S.R.P. of the vehicle was about $39K (not that I paid M.S.R.P. for it. ;) )

As far as engine changes go... all I've done to it is to buy a SuperChips Flashpaq tuner. The car already has a 5.7L Hemi... so honestly it's got some guts stock, however the tuner firms up the engine shifts, makes the appropriate adjustment for the upgraded wheels/tires, and mildly improves the MPG that the car gets. (My butt dyno says that the car feels faster, however I've never put it on a real dyno to prove how much faster it is.)

Overall, I'm more of a "style" person. I don't wanna race my car (and risk major damage to the engine and other parts of the car) as it is currently my daily driver.

Future mods that I am considering (however I really need to wait until next year for my funds to replensh a little) are:

1. L.E.D. Tailights
2. Round color matched headlight covers
3. Zoomers exhaust system (although I can wait on this... not a priority)
4. Painted Engine Cover modification (Makes the engine look nice just in case I enter the car into a car show)

what happened to the T-bird
I gave it to my nephew back in Florida (of course it is titled in my Brother's name, so if he doesn't keep his grades up in school, he sure won't be driving it much.)

And yes... he was grinning from ear to ear when he got it. First car out and he got pimped...

(I did have to pop his collar when I gave him the keys. :D )

Thats awesome. You should start your own show... Unique Furys...

And with leaving the T-bird in floriday, your spreading the style all over.

Hmm and for 4 k, thats amazing. i would have imagined a bit more. enjoy your ride, and let us know if you pimp it out more.

Hmmm... maybe a show called "Furious Stylez" or something like that. :D

As far as keepin' the upgrade cost down, well that's the beauty of eBay... buyin' the good stuff at a fraction of the price. ;) The wheels, the stereo, the grille... all bought off of eBay.

BTW... You'd holler if I told ya how much I got the wheels for. I got REALLY lucky on eBay :thumb: I will say this, M.S.R.P. on them is $800 each without tires, but I sure as hell didn't pay that much. :D
