it was Shogun Assassin (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081506/), a movie based on the Lone Wolf and Cub (http://www.imdb.com/find?s=tt&q=lone+wolf+and+cub) series from Japan.

hmm... looks like darren aronofsky's gonna do a remake. interesting...

I just got through watching "Fearless" (Jet Li's new movie). GREAT movie. Can't tell you much without spoiling the flick, but it's got three parts, and all good. Definitely one of his best works and the fighting is spectacular.
