so i'm watching Cinema Paradiso for the first time, and in the very first scene where they show alfredo working the projector for Father Adelfio, the movie title that comes up is "Verso la vita." after cutting away to show Father Adelfio again, the next shot they show is the screen showing Jean Renoir's name.

i didn't recognize the film's name, so i looked up Renoir's filmography, and sure enough, there was no such movie listed. when i did another imdb search for Verso la vita, it came up as a short film directed by Dino Risi, but the info for Verso la vita was quite sparse, so i wasn't able to determine whether or not Jean Renoir had some part in it.

i also didn't recognize the film scenes that followed, but they didn't look like they were all from the same film either.

so i'm guessing, Alfredo shows multiple movies to Father Adelfio so that he can censor them, and Jean Renoir actually didn't have anything to do with Dino Risi's film "Verso la vita."

i know it's probably a long shot, but is there another film buff out there in G|A land who can verify this?

Sorry, saw it when it was in theatrical release. Don't remember that kind of detail.
