wonder if you could price match with Staples on that and add the $40 off $150 coupon??
That would make a pretty sweet deal as well.

not in stock at staples.com..you might try your local staples store though but mine did not honor the coupon code..darn it.

for those who want to order it thru office depot there is a $10 coupon available.

and for those who already used that $10 coupon, you can buy it from buy.com and then pricematch it. (office depot is a 'qualified internet retailer' that buy.com will match prices with)..no tax for most people & free shipping (free ship ends today)

Ok ok, go over to maggies place, http://www.dealhunting.com
Here's the deal ripped straight from her place, and I just did it, so i can say it works...

You'll have to call them for this deal, be prepared for about a 15 minute hold time. 1-800-3STAPLE. Tell them you want to order a product with a pricematch. It's item # 428386 for $179.95. Office Depot carries this for $119.99. Staples will honor this price. Then tell them you want to use coupon code: 91171 to take $30 off $100. You'll get this drive for $89.99 plus tax, with free shipping. HURRY, cause they're already out of stock in some areas. I just got one for the Tulsa, OK area! UPDATE: How about $20 cheaper? Grab the ATA/100 PCI adapter card at Staples.com in a separate order for $49.98, add some paperclips then use a $20 off $50 coupon to get this card for $30. This then qualifies you for a $50 rebate on the above hard drive! This equates to a free ATA/100 card and an additional $20 off the $89.99 hard drive price after mail-in rebate!

Thanks for the heads up Maggie!!!

BTW - I only had to hold for about 4 seconds, and, I live in Oregon... so if your regional Staples is out of stock, sorry!

I just called staples to get in on the deal and they told me that because the drive has been discontinued, they cannot pricematch the drive over the phone or on the web page. The dude told me the only way to get the pricematch is to go down to the BM and show the manager an add.

Hmm...to the suckage page with you!

Oh well...too good to be true.

I ended up getting a 30GB 7200RPM ATA/100 Maxtor from Best Buy Saturday for $99. I called and got them to hold it for me. It was the last one locally from two stores. I'm surprised they even held it for me. Now today I find out there's an even better deal. I saw the 40GB from Office Depot for $119, and of course the two local stores sold out. I got it online but didn't see the $10 coupon until later. Now they're out of stock online so I can't reorder using the coupon. Staples was out of the drives so I couldn't pricematch, but I did order the ATA/100 card using the $20 off $50 coupon. So the drive comes up to $99. You can never have too much storage space. I remember my first 8.4GB costing as much as these two together.

I called back and got someone that knew what he was doing. I'm still wishwashy on the Ultra100 card. The Diamondmax40 is U66, right?

Also, I'm not sure about ordering them at different times. If there are two reciepts, Maxtor could balk on the rebate. The form does say, "purchased in combonation"

(ever been to the Combo Nation? Good drinks, one dollar pints...)

Haha...

When I was at the B+M office depot, all the newer Maxtor drives, including this one, even the Western Digitals, have stickers that say they are ATA-100 on the drives. So, you're taking a small chance... I just think by "combonation" they mean you have to get both, not so much at the same time...

You have to order it at different times to get the $20 off $50 coupon for the controller card...
