So I'm driving along on the freeway, I'm behind one of those truck haulers and a rock decides that it doesn't want to ride anymore and decides to end its life prematurely. Of course there wasn't any time to avoid it, so blammo I help it out of its misery... Damage in total: Busted oil pan, 2 days off of work and $500+ out of my pocket.
Ugh...

bright side: at least the rock didn't go through your windshield and take you out with it.

Honestly, I don't think that little tumble killed that rock... :hmm:
Maybe it was a "terrorist rock" set on destroying your car.

Bummer!
Did you get a plate number or anything on the truck? CA has a covered load law that might allow you to get your costs reimbursed by the vehicle's owner.
My friend got a big rock to her windshield on the 605 and the truck's owner paid for the windshield replacement.
