So I've been running ws2003 for about two years now (same installation) and the windows folder has gradually grown in size to 2.5gigs. I'm assuming its because of all the patches thats been applied to it during this time. Is there any way i can clean it up? Reduce the size?

I would just reinstall, but I don't want to lose all my settings.

There are a bunch of places where files will grow in there -

Temp files
Log files
Backup of installed patches
Windows install files
Prefetch area
System restore area
Recycle bin
Indexing service
...etc

Here are a few tips on cleaning up:

Treesize Pro is GREAT for finding out where your large files and folders are. It's well worth the purchase if you are going to foresee the need for space maintenance over the near future.

oo, thanks guys
I did a search for big files and the largest was 10 megs. I think its just a bunch of small files
