Anybody else watch it last night? There's an encore presentation on again tonight.

Thoughts? Feelings? Concerns?

My sister & Josh got back from Oklahoma last night, so it's sitting unwatched on my dvr. We'll watch tonight. :)

As much as I mock NBC's programming, I actually enjoyed this one. Of course the last entourage cast show they premiered over the summer, Windfall, was a huge disappointment after the first week.

yeah, windfall sucked big donkey nuts.

as for heroes, my wife and i eagerly awaited the premier. and it didn't disappoint. it's all very interesting how the characters/story will develop. i just hope it doesn't get too cheesy/hokey with "people with superpowers coming to save the day" type plots.

or even worse, they all engage in some screwed up 4-way love rectangle like Windfall

Was it just me or did it sound like the japanese kid was speaking Korean?

I was thinking the exact thing this morning. I loved the show, the plotline develops almost like LOST. I just really hope they don't go all "hokey" and turn them into some made-for-tv x-men knockoff.

:stupid:
I'm such a nerdy dork that I think I'll love this show even if it does get all hokey and X-Menish.

It seems like they at least got good actors, which is a plus. I feel bad for the artist and the single mom. Theirs will be a hard row to hoe.

I loved how they slowly showed how all the characters are connected. Very skillful.

Oh, and for those with a fast connection, you can go to NBC.com and watch a few different shows online... full episodes. :)

i wanted to watch it, but i had something else to go to last night.

i agree with cornmonkey about the plot devolving into a typical superhero thing.

and, while keeping in mind i have yet to see the show, i'm a bit wary of all these new shows that seem to be trying to bank on the success formula of LOST: several stories loosely tied to each other by something or another.

Yah, but at least here we know what ties them together, being super heros and all. And already, after the first show, a couple of them are already connecting.

Don't forget you can go to nbc.com to see the episode in full, for free. woot, I love me some free.

Definitely not Korean. But, I can see how the two languages may sounds similar sometimes. Hiro's hilarious though!

We loved it. And I've read that not to worry, once the characters begin to get used to their powers, it isn't going to be solely about the mythology, like Lost was last season.

I felt it dragged a little, too. But it was justified since this was the pilot and some storyline needed to be built.

I didn't catch the Japanese kid speaking Korean, but I saw that the clock he stopped in his office used Chinese numbers. Is that typical in Japan?

Also, for NextDoorNikki, what's her power? Multiple-personalities? Bi-Polar? I was trying to figure it out...

All in all, I give it an 8 out of 10 for the first episode. I'll definitely be watching it again next week.

japanese and korean languages both use chinese characters sometimes. so yes, it is typical in japan..and korea.

about that girl's power...i was wondering that too. i think she turns into a "hulk" type person. :) i guess we'll know for sure when she sees that tape...

that's what i got out of it too, that her reflection is sort of like an alter ego who has a life/mind of her own.

I don't think you missed it. I think everything will be revealed gradually w/new subplots /back stories thrown in similar to "Lost." Too many good shows on at the same time and none on other nights.

CornMonkey

well, after watching last night's episode, looks like we're gonna get introduced to a "super villian." i was hoping it wouldn't turn this route so soon but i guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

also, i thought it was interesting that hiro's segment all takes place in the future. it was a little trippy at first, but thought it was well done in the end.

oh, and does anyone else feel this show is way too gory for a primetime show? not that i'm offended, but some scenes were just...unexpected.

Last night's episode was a vast improvement from last week's episode. They finally managed to focus on a few of the characters and touched lightly on the others, instead of trying to focus on all the characters within 1 hour.

I LOVE THIS SHOW! Perhaps it's because I've felt deprived of any good, non-reality TV for a while. Still trying to figure out what Niki's powers are--is she schizo? Is that a power? Does her alter ego have superhuman strength? It seems that a couple of them have to use certain methods to "tap in" to their powers--with the artist, he has to shoot up; with Niki, she has to black out.

And is it a given that the cheerleader's dad = Silar? My guess is that he's extracting their "powers" directly from their brains and somehow applying them to himself. That guy that broke into the police station to try to get to the little girl had at least three different superhuman powers.

This show is definitely the goriest that I've seen on network TV--and no disclaimer at the beginning! I think they're trying to compete with cable shows. Can't wait till next week's episode.

Really? I figured it out by the previews last week! The watch and rolled sleeves were a total giveaway. Donnie didn't believe me last week either...

I like watching Christopher Eccleston in the past few episodes. I think I can call myself a fan of his. He brings some great wit as always. :D For those who can't place him, he is the 9th Dr Who.

Is anyone else also watching Heroes via the NBC web site? I usually watch at home on the day it airs, then again during lunch online.

The reason I ask is that now they are doing commentaries with the online stuff. I'm enjoying it muchly. Though, sometimes I want to shake the actors and tell them to stop so much with the *watching* of the show and start with the commenting on the show. lol

I think its like X-Men. You pretty much have every spectrum of powers found on X-Men comics. Then again, I think Marvel pretty much covered every aspect of mutant powers. I'd be exciting to see one with spider powers tho. HAHA.

I agree. I initially thought that they would make the show very different from the whole x-men vibe, but it's very smiliar.

I don't really know why I like this show so much. Much of the acting and themes are so cheesy! Seriously, half of the actors do such a generic job, and some of the themes make me want to  . "Save the cheerleader, save the world" . But I do like the show. I know it's a show about heros with special abilities so it has room for cheesiness, but I thought the show was going to be a bit different. Can't wait for the next couple episodes though.

This thread just reminded me that I am two weeks behind on episodes! Good thing they are available online. I really want to see them in hi- def on my TV though.
