Recently I haven't posted every comment I can think of, ocassionally helping a newbie or adding an educated comment (As This one) to a good topic. It holds down the crap, and relly makes this forum look prestigious. It also gives a true view as to who has a life and who doesn't.

On the bad side, I think many people will be turned off, Big Brother is for the government, Not Apex not ICann not ever, of course some will say slight regulation is necessary to keep out the gotmilk's and Alex N's (who?) but to what point... I suppose, this is a private forum and I am grateful to be part of this and especially be part of the T25! But shouldn't loud mouths have the same rights as us? (Or maybe not The Boy Scouts is private and athiests and gays are not allowed :)

Oh and I think the Dunce cap is a great idea, keep their count, cause it should be more of a determining factor of newbiee or vetran not I am king casue I can type 20000 message, but change graphic and limit to 10 posts a day.

can this be the reason why new people don't post? everyone always complains about the lurkers, and so, when they stop lurking they get in trouble!

why is there even a ranking system in the first place? who really cares? if anything, posts in the off topic forum shouldn't count at all!

and stupid one word responses shouldn't count either.

That's right styleee. We should always protect the idiots who act selfishly first and think later. Selfish bastards like that should have their rights protected at all costs, even if it means sacrificing the integrity and maturity of the forums.


If Got|Apex were a democracy, our votes would matter. (And people like Unreal could get his votes recounted until he won his case) But since this is not a democracy, I say rules are rules, and don't waste my time posting stupid comments like "wood"

i once cared about my rank. for about 15 minutes. then I realized i need to get out and get a life. There is just too many damn things to do in life. I'd rather not sit around like a goof ball typing on a forum so some insignifigant number will go up.

There's a difference between posting a couple of lame replies versus going into days old threads, bumping those threads up and posting nonsense. Its not enjoyable for members to go into thread after thread and see lame replies posted because one guy decided he had to see the last post column of a forum done by himself. Furthermore people post because they want to. Maybe because that thoughtless guy is engaging in empty-headed behavior like that makes people not want to post.

maybe this site could adopt a similar setup to the forums over at http://www.dslreports.com

over there, if you post a good/revelant post, people can "vote" you to a higher rating. If the post is inappropiate (sp?) then you can vote that it is inapropiate, and after so many votes, it gets moveed/removed.

Also, you are limited to the number of times you can vote per day. that way you can't go on a voting spree.

Just an idea.

BTW, AmRivlin, people get busted by the Mods mostly for "disturbing the peace" in the forums.

It's one thing to get a good heated argument going. It's another for someone to start yelling at the top of their lungs shouting profanities at 3am.
