The symptoms are a popup saying the computer is infected with a virus, click here to remove it and when you do that they want $50 but I think that is a fake because the download doesn't work and they don't take the $50. This has been going on for over 2 months and Norton is not detecting it. I Googled it and it seems to be a problem to solve.

One thread in a subscription site that I found ended up pointing to this thread as solving the problem of this virus:

Thank you Markel for the link, I will report back. I have tried a few of the fixes I found on the net, none worked so far. Adaware, Spybot and Norton don't detect this thing.

You will have better luck removing this by scanning the drive from a boot CD or by physically removing the drive and slaving it to another computer. It is easier to remove this type of malware by scanning the drive without booting into Windows.

Another app you can try (from within Windows) is SuperAntispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

Don't forget to go through Add/Remove programs. Many spyware scanners ignore programs listed in there because it's usually considered "consented" software.
