The Memorex CD-R is a write once, single sided disc. It provides 700 MB of space, which translates to eighty minutes of audio recording time. You can use this disc in 1x - 52x write speed compatible writers. Remember that you can use this disc only on a computer CD writer. A one-year warranty protects you against defects in the near term, while the discs' rated archival life of 70 to 100 years means you can rest easy about the future of your data. MEMOREX 52X CDR MEDIA SALE

This is a Ford - Chevy debate. Personally, I've used Memorex for years with no problems.

Have you used them in the last six months? Many brands that used to work no longer give me good copies. And what do you use them for? Forget VideoCDs or CDGs!! However, they may work for MP3s

I am going to try Taiyo Yudens to see if they still have high quality.

:agree: with MikeD. Though no, I haven't tried Memorex in the past 6 months. Maybe I'll try one before buying...

Read the reviews on Amazon. There are people who are satisfied with Memorex, but also many people who have gotten bad batches.

I never had this problem with any media until recently.

Staples has a 50 pack of Sonys this week for $7.99. Think I will buy me some tonight.

YAY..Sony's worked perfectly. I went back and bought 3 more 50 packs today.

I asked a guy at Staples today if he knew of any problems with blank media. He said that Memorex DVDs are junk and that their warranty is worthless. He said he got 20 good burns out of 100. They didn't do a thing about the bad media.

So you talked to another Ford guy, huh? ;)

Mike, I asked if you had tried any media recently. The problems have arisen lately with Imation, Verbatim, Memorex and COMPUSA CDRs. I haven't tried Maxells recently, but have been told that they are still OK. Office Depot and Staples brands seem to be OK too.

I am going to try to track down what is going on in the CDR media field. I believe there are only a couple of manufacturers. One thing for sure is that quality is suffering.

You're right; you did ask. To be honest, I use Memorex ONLY for DVD burning. I prefer them for CD burning, but will also use Maxell and TDK. I normally buy my discs at B&M, so I don't often use brands such as Ritek (which I've only seen online).

I've had coasters before, sure...but nothing I would consider out of the ordinary. With any media, you're going to get bad burns from time to time. I try and use solely Memorex, have gone through multiple spindles in the past 6 months, and haven't had any problems.

I use the DVD's to burn movies and backup data. I use the CD's to burn CD's, backup data, move data, etc.

To me this is no different than every other A vs. B debate. Which is better, Netflix or Blockbuster? Ford or Chevy? Papa Johns or Dominos? I'm sure you'll find some people who agree with you...but you also find other who haven't encountered the same issues.

BTW, good call on researching who manufactures the various brands. I'd be interested to read what you find out.

I didn't like Memorex when I used it before...
