With the price of gas going down, the cost savings are probably not worth the premium. That's another discussion and probably beaten to death.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Grand Chrokee doesn't fit in that list. Everything else is something that you could say "if they can afford that, then they don't care about how much gas costs".

Automatic Lambo? :'(

The same thing caught my eye. "What's a Grand Cherokee doing in that list??!!"

Automatic Lambo? :'(
I guess that's for the guy who just has to be seen driving a Lamborghini, but doesn't know how to drive a Lamborghini. :hihi:

Why isn't the VW turbodiesel on the list?

Only 1/10 of the worst is an SUV while 2/10 of the best are SUVs! Woo hoo justification!!!

Nah - those aren't SUVs, they're WUVs (Wimp Utility Vehicles). :D

Eh, not really. I'm not one to begrudge anyone their vehicles of choice (cause I say that if you can afford it, sure why not?), but if you look at it from a different perspective...

Only one out of the ten worst isn't a sports car meant to speed quickly and burn fuel (not necessarily in that order). That one is an SUV. That's not a good category.

The two SUV's in the ten best are hybrids, and even given that, they're still at the bottom of the top relative to other hybrids, and still lower than regular gas-powered vehicles. Though, yeah, the FWD Ford Escape seems to be the closest to an exception.

The list doesn't seem to be very well researched in my opinion. Lots of omitted vehicles that could fit into both of those categories.

Why isn't the VW turbodiesel on the list?
Probably because it doesn't burn gasoline... ;D

Also.. did anyone notice the "fine print" :D

"Trucks over 8500 pounds gross vehicle weight rating are currently exempt from federal fuel economy requirements."

That kinda makes sense doesn't it. They should probably exclude cars over 150K too.

I couldn't imagine getting 33mpg. My truck gets 12-14 average and I am happy with that. 33 would be like ... tap tap tap "is my gauge broken" :)

My 94 accord gets better gas milelage than the hybrid WUVs and I know the regular (i.e. non-hybrid) civic and the carolla get better gas mileage than those hybrid WUVs.

I think my civic gets great gas mileage.. if I were to keep up on the maintenance better! :)

Your 94 accord isn't a 07

My point is that if my 94 Accord gets better fuel efficiency than the hybrid SUVs then more than 8 '06 vehicles should be able to beat out the hybrid SUVs.
