Rocky Mountain Park has tons of elk living it. They can be seen in downtown Estes Park. Here a ranger helps direct traffic while a small bunch makes its way across the road further up in the park.

Sometimes you can get very close to them, but you would be advised to keep some distance since wild animals can be unpredictable. I took this one out of the window of our car while he stood only about ten or fifteen feet away.
