where the heck do you spend paypal money anyway? i have some in an account and nothing to do with it...are there charges for using a paypal account?

FOBSIDE, Paypal is an easy way to transfer money via the internet. Most commonly used on auction sites, especially you know where. You can also use your credit card to send money to other paypal accounts, nice way to pay for auction payments with your credit card. There is no charge for normal buying or selling accounts, unless you are a big $ seller. Then paypal will accept only $500 in credit card payments per 6 months unless you upgrade to their premium account. You can also transfer money to and from your checking account at no charge.

no reason to leave money sitting in a paypal account. either give them your bank account (takes a few days for tem to verify it) so they can transfer the money there, or just have them send you a check for it. if you need to spend money at an auction site later, you can do it with a credit card through paypal.

Doesn't Paypal now charge you a hefty "mantainance" fee if you have under a 100/month average balance?

Nope, I believe you're thinking of x.com's banking stuff - PayPal's free as free can be.

Internet gambling is the reason for the high traffic at paypal. Credit cards are starting to regularly decline charges at on-line casinos, so people have started using paypal to circumvent this. I wish I invested in Paypal. hehe. :)

That's good to know - I was afraid PayPal would go under, and I've had good luck with them.

Gamblers, keep spending that money!

I signed up for Paypal on onedayfree.com to buy some 128MB PC100 memory. It worked pretty well actually. The seller was able to shipe the memory the same day thanks to paypal. If anyone is interested, there is still some more available.

Peace to all!

is this person promoting their website? first post? the reason why paypal has had such high traffic is because of the changes made in regards to internet gambling. banks are now declining more of the casino charges, so paypal is one way around this.

Also, if you have a premier account, you get roughly 6% in interest...not that i've had any money to earn interest on. :)

I thought http://www.onedayfree.com meant "one day free", the price keeps dropping until it's free. Deal888 has a mininum price of $64. "Onedayfree" is a misnomer just as half.com where everything is (was thanks to Egay) half price or less.

Not that Deal888 is giving the memory away anyway, his reserve price of $64 for PC100 128MB is still more than AccessMicro's price of $55 for PC133 (+10s&h).

Paypal's service was fairly good, considering it's free to most users. However recently they started this "outage everyday" trend, and I get "Inbox is temporarily unavailable" every time I log on, and that got me worries, so I think now is the best time to wrap up and ask them to send me my check...

They got this new thing for Paypal where if you leave the money in the account, you'll get 5.1 or something percent interest that get paid out monthly. I don't know about you but my bank only gives me 3.6 percent interest...

I have a sneaking suspicion that deal888 is homie, the same guy who has been spamming gotapex for several months now trying to drum up business for onedayfree. If it is the same person, he went by the name homie, as well as several other nicks. If I were you I would stay away from onedayfree. Look at homie's post history, and you can see that he is always "supported" by the same couple of people... suspicious?

The cd rate on etrade is 7.35 apy. I also heard e-trade is offering some $268 if you open an account. Here is how you do it,
1. Go to this URL,
http://chinese.etrade.com/268
(I got a chinese friend to help me with the forms)
2. Deposit $25,000
3. Email etrade customer service after a week and ask them why the $268 is still not in your account, this will expedite the process. :-)
4. After the $268 is in your account (2-8 weeks). Withdraw $24,268 (plus some interest your 25k earned during the 2-8 weeks) and leave $1,000 for six more months.
5. Close account and withdraw $1,000 plus interest, done.

Am I the only one that finds this absolutely hilarious?

Sorry, but I think you can probably find something that pays you $268 dollars once when you have $25K of capital lying around...

I remember earlier this year, there was a deal that you deposit like 10k to get a palm pilot from e-trade, and people were so much interested. This deal is similar, except you get cash instead of a palm.
Deposit $1k to get $88
Deposit $10k to get $168
Deposit $25k to get $268
Put it in a simpler term, if you can get 1268 for $10k in two months, that's 10% APY, which is better than any of my stock portfolios or any cd I know of.

I'm not a big fan of Paypal. I don't think it's that great considering all the processing time it takes if you get ripped off. Remember the whole alxnguyen fiasco?

I think that if you are making a large purchase, an online escrow is the way to go. Sure, there's a fee, but I think it's worth it.

Leon is right. I only use paypal to receive payment, it's too hard to stop or dispute a payment when there is a scam. I use i-escrow,
http://www.iescrow.com
they are ok, but not great, are there any good ones out there?

Leon

http://www.escrow.com is another one.

That's exactly what is happening lisu24 and carpoon.

This person has used various names to pimp that site in this forum.

As of now this behaviour will stop. We have a spam forum for a reason. Use it or lose the privilege of using this bbs!

I finally got on and withdrew my funds. I can understand the high traffic causing problems, I just wanted my cash! LOL

Oh....For The Record....I like PayPal !! I also like eCount, which will send you an actual credit card so you can use your money offline as well as online.
