COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) - Rap star Kanye West was named Best Hip Hop artist, but still came off as a sore loser at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
West apparently was so disappointed at not winning for Best Video that he crashed the stage Thursday in Copenhagen when the award was being presented to Justice and Simian for "We Are Your Friends."
In a tirade riddled with expletives, West said he should have won the prize for his video "Touch The Sky," because it "cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons."
"If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility," West said.
The rapper grabbed the Best Hip Hop award earlier in the night in a star-studded event hosted by Justin Timberlake in the Danish capital.
West has a particular affinity for the "Touch The Sky" video. In an interview with The Associated Press in August, he expressed his displeasure that the clip, an elaborate Evel Knievel spoof, didn't get nominated for an MTV Video Music Award.
"It didn't get any nominations, but it's one of the most memorable videos of the year for me," he told AP.
etc etc etc.............more info in the link.

Different year, different show, same behavior. I see a pattern here...

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Kanye West said the reason he went berserk at the MTV Europe Music Awards last week is because of "sippy sippy."
West told MTV in Britain he had "a little sippy sippy" before the awards, and he engaged in "a little more sippy sippy" after the show.
The rapper crashed the stage at the award show in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Thursday after he lost the Best Video award to Justice Vs. Simian.
He went on a rant about his video for "Touch The Sky," saying it cost $1 million, had Pamela Anderson in it and featured him jumping over canyons.
"If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility," West said during the outburst.
West later said he hoped he would not be edited out of re-broadcasts of the show.
West did win one award, for Best Hip-Hop.
This isn't the first time that West has gone off after not winning some kind of music award.
When he lost the Best New Artist award to Gretchen Wilson at the American Music Awards, he complained about it backstage. And back in December, he declared that he'd have a problem with not winning Album of the Year honors at the Grammys.
Plus, West hasn't limited his outspokenness to musical matters. When he appeared at a nationally telecast post-Katrina telethon, he shocked viewers by declaring that President George W. Bush "doesn't care about black people
I love Kanye and I have a feeling he does this on purpose. I'm certain he has a huge ego but he's smart enough to do this kind of **** to spread his name.

I think that saying he's smart enough to do this on purpose is giving him way too much credit. He's talented, and I kinda like his music, but he's giving me reason upon reason not to like him. And it's working.

The part that really sucks is that this video is not outstanding, neither is the song. With some rap, you have to "get it" in order to understand it. If you're not familiar with rap and you watch this vidoe it won't do much for you. It's just "okay" not award quality at least not in my humble opinion :)

In the world of show business, exposure and publicity is gold, regardless of whether it's positive or negative. He's been trying very hard to earn this and the ridicule and hatred in this thread shows it's working. ;)

I dont understand how people can take what he does in real life and judge his music based on it. hes not running for mayor, hes not a priest, he makes music. when you listen to a really good song, you dont take into account what the producer did the night before or how he acted in a situation. you like a dope song cause its a dope song. and to all those people saying they dont like his music anymore and arent gonna listen to him.....good luck. HE MAKES BEATS. chances are hes gonna make a beat for your favorite pop artist, and your gonna love it. you probably wont even know it either. granted what he did was a dckhead move, he was drunk. i've done alot worse when i've been drunk. and the stuff you guys are saying about him are just as bad as the stuff that comes out of his mouth. the fact is, hes a great producer. he made a huge impact on hiphop music production, and brought depth and soul back to hiphop. if you dont understand hiphop then leave it alone, dont bash it. dont call him an ignorant gangsta rapper and fake thug and all that nonsense. cause thats ignorant. one more thing, i hate when people ask "why does he have to sample. hes not good enough to make his own music?" Thats what hiphop is! producers and djs have been sampling since the began. its about which sample you choose and what you can do with it. sampling doesnt make producing easy either. lil' jon doesnt use samples when he makes beats and look at his music. its a joke. real hiphop heads know whats up. if you dont like his songs anymore after what he did, its your lost. go back to the Z morning Zoo and have manufactured pop bands spoon fed to you. thanks for reading my rant. i read 10mins of hiphop and kanye bashing from another forum coming from people that dont know anything about hiphop and kanye, i had to vent.
ps. george bush doesnt care about black people is a silly comment. george bush doesnt care about people period. the only people he cares about are his advisors that tell him what to do. dont even start me with GWB.

So the same could be argued for Tom Cruise then? Going Nuts.
Mel Gibson and being an anti-semite.
Russell Crowe and his Anger problem.
There are many different things people do that may cause people not to like their work. If people don't want to like someone's work because of how they act that's their decision.
Plus it wasn't like he did this while he was on a vacation in Hawaii to someone on the beach, he got up on stage during an MTV Award Show and proceeded to tell someone else that his video deserved to win over theirs. His video "cost 1 million dollars!"
The guy is full of himself. He isn't "THAT" good.

Honestly Cheapie, people do this EVERYDAY... (especially in Entertainment AND Politrix...)
There are plenty of "rotten apples" out there getting paid (and continuing to do so)... so why is this case any different? Some folks have built their entire careers on controversy, so what makes this any different? I guess it just depends on who's side of who's fence is being attacked at the time.
More or less... we already know that the sharks are in the water, so why are you folks just tossin' more chum out there? Sheesh. If you don't like it... ignore it. If you do, continue to enjoy it. More or less, it isn't gonna stop just because a few people disagree with it... history has already proven that.

What bothers me most about Kanye is that I really wanted to like him. His music is really pretty good, but it's so hard to like his music when he engages in this type of behavior. I feel the same way about certain actors--there are several whom I won't pay to see any of their movies because of what they do or say off-screen. It's hard to recognize them for their artistic merit when they keep throwing their personal lives in your face.

yeah man! kanye is totally wacked in the head. he thinks he's the BOMB,...he iS not! hiphop is awesome dude! just not kanyes.
I understand not wanting to support (financially and morally) him but i dont really understand the concept of not liking his work based on his actions. tom cruise's acting was never criticized, just his personal life was. mel gibson's words didnt make braveheart suck right?
i guess some people dont appriciate hiphop. cause in my eyes kanye did alot for hiphop music. maybe thats why i feel i need to defend him. but mainly im defending his music.
one more thing, just to make things clear. hiphop music is not just ignorant, rowdy, southside jamacia queens music. there is so much more to hiphop. radio djs just play the dumb stuff (most of the time) cause thats what people think and expect to hear, so they play it. i think everyone needs more exposure to hiphop. dl my hiphop list. youll like it......or not, i dont know. The list is long so if you wanna look at all of them just dl this one song --> Souls Of Mischief ---- '93 Till Infinity

Come on, stunts like these make life so much more interesting. I think next year for the award show, the host should do a parody of Mr. West storming the stage. I find it comical.
