Anyone play it yet?

I've got about 5 hrs into it (including a few hours of leveling and general aimless walking around) and am still waiting for the hooking element.

I'm hoping the reviews I've seen aren't just based on the hype, I'm not seeing the 93/100 rating just yet.

Pretty graphics though.

i used to be a big square rpg fan, but ever since ffx and xenosaga, i've gotten kinda tired of the "play for 30 minutes, watch cgi video for 2hours" gameplay.

is this FF installment like that? or is there more actual gameplay involved?

Sold my PS2, if it's good I'll pick up another one for this game. Otherwise, I have FF3 pre-ordered for the DS.

I've been playing the game for a few hours as well and enjoying it. Besides all the usual nice looking FMVs and game in general, the battle system take some getting used to. I think once you get several hours into the game and have a little more free roam of the world, the game improves. I can see the 93 score.

The FMVs are kind of long, but they haven't been overbearing yet. Then again, I'm not too far into the game.

By the way, I love the Greg Hahn quote in your signature. I've been dying to see him on tour.
