When's the last time you were drunk?
Edit: Bonus points for including what you drank and what the occasion was.

I don't drink to get drunk, but I do enjoy a good scotch.
In my opinion, Lagavulin 16 year is very good. I say this because (hic) it is both profoundly excellent, and also available and accessible to the average bastard... such as myself.
What say ye, Scotch drinkers?

I sometimes drink (socially) but I've never been drunk.
I just don't see the point in getting wasted... and losing control of my faculties.

Last Saturday... winery trip then a costume party. Some folks would probably call it a bender.

Buzzed, yes. Drunk, no.

Interesting that, as of this posting, 68% of the responses were "within the last year" or "never". I thought they would have been more towards the more recent end.

:agree: wholeheartedly! Just a small amount of wine on a social basis and I've never been drunk.
Didn't drink at all in college so I was a designated driver for many parties.

went to a few dive bars in the lower east side (NYC) with some college buddies. long island, vodka tonics, some tequila shots, and a whole bunch of watermelon-flavored vodka shots that tasted like juice.
my friend and i miraculously walked to murray hill and then to penn station pretty wasted.

You missed "more than a year ago". There's a long time span between "never" and "within the last year".
It's been more than 15 years for me.

Couple months ago. My friend makes a wicked Four Horsemen--equal amounts of Jager, Goldschlager, Rumplemintz and Bacardi 151. Had about 4 of those, then hit a couple bars and added a Long Island Iced Tea and a shot of Patron to the mix. I remember having a fruity drink too, but can't remember what was in it. Then tried to sit through Talladega Nights. I can't remember one thing about the movie. My husband said I booed every time the French guy came on.

Twice last week. I would definitely say I often go beyond getting buzzed, but never beyond the point of no return. I drink just enough for the intoxication to grease up the atmosphere for a fun and exciting time. I can't even remember the last time I had a hard time getting home or threw up as a result of drinking.

The painful part is always the morning after. But seriously, if you guzzle water while you drink, it takes some of the edge off. And never mix if you can avoid it. Oh, and menudo REALLY does help. I think it's all the grease.

Normally my answer would have been Yesterday or Now. However I decided to give it up about 7 weeks ago. I've had a couple of glasses of wine in the last couple of weeks, but no where near being drunk.

I've only been drunk once, a considerable feat since I have that Asian gene problem and I react badly to alcohol...
It was fun though for those 10 minutes...but then....ouch

:stupid: The whole idea of drinking oneself till you're retarded lost it's cool a long time ago during the junior year of high school.

for the most part, i agree with what many others have said about drinking socially, knowing my limits, and being able to walk that fine line between being pleasantly buzzed and what some might consider drunk.
but, i also think it depends on how you define "drunk."
i've never gotten so wasted that i experienced memory loss. i can count on one hand the number of times in my life i've drunk so much that i couldn't walk straight, and i think i've only actually puked from drinking a few times more than that.
have i ever, or do i ever, drink so much that i'm out of control? not really, aside from those handful of times i just mentioned. but i do have friends who have seen me buzzed, and they call that being drunk. i don't.

I forget which program it was, but one of the news magazine shows did one on how drunk people think they are and how drunk they actually were. Everyone highly underestimated how drunk they were according to blood alcohol tests. And drinking things like Red Bull with your alcohol does not make you any less drunk.
One of my favorite lines from the movie "Animal House" is
Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life son!

Drinking is a lot like religion. There's a fine line between "having faith" and being a fanatic, just like there's a fine line between being buzzed and drunk.
One other similarity to note is that somebody who is anti-religious will often see all believers as fanatics, just like people who hate alcohol will often see all drinkers as drunkards.
As always, to each his own.

I need a better definition of buzzed and drunk...
I drink most weekends, but it's rarely to what I would call excessive. (Though most non-drinkers would disagree.)
I don't drink to the point of nausea or blackouts or passouts: I just drink to get tipsy enough to feel funny and relaxed. Sometimes a bottle of wine is enough, which for some of you troopers is a cakewalk.
Anyway...the bonus points: It was either the soco and lime shots or the jaeger bombs that did me in.

I like Scotch as well. Neat, of course. Also good vodka. I haven't been drunk in years, but have been buzzed quite a few times, especially when I managed the magic nights at HA's club. It was readily available and free to me. Nothing that made me even tipsy or stupid. And I've never forgotten anything/blackouts/whatever. But I really got messed up one night in college I'll never forget. The hangover left me in bed the entire next day. Miserable. Since then (and that was several years ago,) I haven't really gotten drunk. Just isn't that fun for me. And I like sticking to low amounts with plenty of water and plenty of time doing other stuff (hours) to get completely sober before even thinking about driving. So I usually end up the DD when we go out. I may have a Scotch or rum/coke at the beginning of the night, and then just drink nothing else for the next 4-5+ hours, except for water.

Bottle of wine with dinner then scotch at the bar (in my defense, it was Election Day, and I'm in California) :)

LOL, I sorry Nija :faint: I usually don't do the G|A notify when I travel for work, especially if I don't get a car.
Hi G|A California... 94 degrees yesterday. Love the dry heat though. 94 in DC is pretty close to capital punishment.
